Sending your cases to ACGME, step by step.
Residents and cardiothoracic fellows can send cases from Anesto to the ACGME Case Log System from their phone. Here is exactly what happens, what Anesto does on ACGME, and what it never does.
What you agree to, in the app’s own words
Before ACGME’s sign-in page ever appears, Anesto shows one screen, “Link your ACGME account”: Anesto sends cases to the ACGME Case Log System through your own account, on this phone. Then these five lines, word for word:
- You sign in on ACGME’s own page. Anesto never sees your password.
- When you tap Send, Anesto fills in ACGME’s form from what you logged, submits it, then checks your ACGME list to make sure it’s there.
- Your case description goes in ACGME’s comment box.
- Anesto only adds cases. It never changes or deletes anything on ACGME. To fix a case, use acgme.org.
- Anesto keeps a note of whether each send worked, never what was in it.
You can tap “Not now” and keep logging without ever linking.
What happens when you send
1. Link once, on ACGME’s page
You sign in to ACGME inside the app, on ACGME’s own sign-in page, left exactly as ACGME made it. The frame around it says ACGME’s page · Anesto never sees what you type. You type your email, password and the code ACGME texts you straight into ACGME’s page. ACGME asks you to sign in again about once a month.
2. Send one case or a batch
Cases that are ready wait in one list, each with its Case ID and the comment that will go to ACGME, both editable. One tap sends them: “Send 3 to ACGME”.
3. Anesto checks your ACGME list first
Before adding anything, Anesto reads your own ACGME case list. If the case is already there, it’s marked as sent and nothing is added. If something on ACGME only might be the same case, Anesto stops and asks you instead of guessing. If you logged a case by hand on acgme.org, Anesto tells you to link it rather than send it again.
4. It fills in ACGME’s form and submits it
Anesto opens ACGME’s own case form, fills it in from your case, and presses Submit. If something on ACGME’s side keeps it from pressing Submit, a resident gets the filled-in form to check and submit themselves. A cardiothoracic fellow’s entry is never handed over half-done: it goes to ACGME whole, or not at all, so nothing partial lands in the log.
5. Then it checks that the case landed
After each Submit, Anesto reads your ACGME list again. A case it finds there is marked On ACGME. If it can’t confirm one, it says so on that case, and asks you to check acgme.org before sending it again. Nothing is retried behind your back.
What Anesto never does
- Never changes or deletes anything on ACGME. It only adds cases. To correct a case, use acgme.org.
- Never sees or keeps your ACGME password. It doesn’t store your username, password, sign-in codes, tokens or cookie contents, and nothing is sent to Anesto’s servers while you’re on ACGME’s pages. Your phone keeps you signed in, the way any browser would.
- Never keeps what you sent. Only whether each send worked.
- Never re-adds a case you removed. If you delete a sent case on acgme.org, Anesto marks it removed instead of sending it again.
What Anesto reads from ACGME
- Your case list, before and after each send, so nothing goes twice and every send is confirmed.
- Your Minimums report, so your progress in Anesto starts from ACGME’s own totals. The report holds totals only: no cases, Case IDs or comments.
- ACGME’s own lists for the form, such as your program’s attendings and sites, so the form is filled in with ACGME’s choices.
Who can send, and what it costs
Sending to ACGME is for residents and cardiothoracic fellows, and it’s free, like everything else in Anesto for trainees. Attendings and CRNAs don’t log to ACGME; for them, Anesto Pro turns the log into a credentialing PDF of every case, counted by facility, for any dates.
Everything on this page, plus a note you can send your residents, in one place.
Anesto is not affiliated with or endorsed by the ACGME. ACGME’s Case Log System is the record of your cases; your program decides how they’re credited.
